Code of Ethical Conduct
INTEGRITY

David Pratt and Associates (DPA) is committed to the highest degree of integrity in our dealings with current, potential and past clients. In addition to ensuring full compliance with all of the rules and regulations under the Lobbying Act, we hold ourselves to a high standard of ethical conduct as the foundation of our business.

CONFIDENTIALITY

As a means of safeguarding the business of our clients and our own operations, we rigorously adhere to commercial confidentiality, and the protection of all personal, technical, intellectual property and business development information received in the course of providing our services.

ETHICS and PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

We conduct our services honestly and honourably. We expect our clients and associates to do the same. All of our actions and advice are guided by ethical considerations. The value and trust we have as a team is based on our ethical standards and our commitment to professional conduct. We take great care to be objective in our counsel to clients. All the strategic advice and recommendations we provide are based solely on the best interests of our clients.

DUTY OF CARE

In addition to respecting all relevant laws and regulations, we believe that all businesses and organizations, including this consultancy, should respect the human rights of the individuals within them and with whom they conduct business. We insist that all members of our team act in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code in all areas of business activity.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Due to the sensitive nature of our consultancy services, we will not provide a service to a direct competitor of a client.

CONTRACTS

Our contracts are usually in the form of a detailed scope of work including objectives, activities, costs, timelines and deliverables. The quality of our services and the value of our support are the basis for the continuity of our business relationships. We always seek not just to meet our contractual requirements and expectations, but to exceed them.

PAYMENT

We aim to be as flexible as possible in the way that our services are charged. The vast majority of our clients engage us on a retainer basis for six month or one-year contracts. However, some clients prefer fixed project fees. In all instances, we seek to accommodate our clients’ needs. We expect payments to be made on schedule in the same timely way we deliver our services. Our terms are generally net monthly in arrears.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND MORAL RIGHTS

We retain the moral rights in, and ownership of, all intellectual property that we create unless agreed otherwise in advance with our clients. In return, we respect the moral and intellectual copyright vested in our clients’ intellectual property.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

We maintain a very high standard of quality in the documents and communications products we produce through processes and procedures geared toward ensuring that all material is the very best it can be. This is supported by constant ongoing reviews with our clients of all aims, activities, outcomes and the cost-effectiveness of every activity. We strongly encourage regular review meetings and provide regular progress reports.
